The Tau Beta Pi Association is the oldest engineering honor society and the second oldest collegiate honor society in the United States. It honors engineering students in American universities who have shown a history of academic achievement as well as a commitment to personal and professional integrity. This chapter, OH Xi, at Miami University was founded in 2008.
We focus on providing social opportunities and the ability to connect with others in our chapter. Some events that we have done and will continue to do are Broomball, BBQ/TBPi Dinners, trivia nights, Pi Day celebration, and Board Game nights. We are always changing and coming up with new opportunities for our members.
We focus on academic achievement and collaboration between our members and fellow students. We offer the ability to connect with the other top Miami CEC students. We also put together the engineering week banquet every year.
We focus on helping members professionally and set them up for their career or with other professional opportunities. Some opportunities that we offer for professional development are career fair preparation, the ability to connect with any other Tau Beta Pi member no matter their year or Alma Mater, special company visits, alumni's companies reaching out with opportunities, and the opportunity to attend the Tau Beta Pi Convention.
We focus on serving others and our community. Some past projects that we have done are we judge some of the local science fairs for schools, we volunteer at the Tech Olympics, and we co-sponsor blood drives. We are always looking for more opportunites to help out.
You must be in the top 1/8th of your junior class or top 1/5th of your senior class and then go through an application process. We will contact you if you are eligible.
